Incredible Speakers

I bought these speakers along with Denon AVR-3311CI 7.2-Channel Network Home Theater Receiver (Black). These speakers really shine in a surround sound environment. As other online reviews have pointed out, these aren't the best stereo speakers, but with the form factor, one wouldn't expect this. What really surprised me was the actual power these speakers (and subwoofer) can put out. You can definitely feel the air being pushed from the cones, and the subwoofer vibrates the floor pleasingly.

For the best possible outcome with these speakers, I highly recommend you pair them with a smart amplifier with EQ that is properly calibrated via microphone. If you're going to spend the money on these speakers, you should really get a higher end amp. Another note, the subwoofer crossover frequency is on the higher side 120Hz, so follow the instructions during calibration and setup. When listening in stereo, it is highly advisable to leave the subwoofer on for a 2.1 setup, although I'm happy with 5.1 channel stereo as well (remember that great quadraphonic sound? :) ).

I was wavering between a 4 to 5 star rating, as the slightly degraded stereo performance is a bit of a bummer at this price point, but taking into account that 80% of the time these are used in a home-theater/tv environment, the excellent form factor, and pleasing surround characteristics, this gets bumped to a 5-star rating.

Got these speakers hooked up over the weekend. I was a little skeptical because I had not heard them, was going by a few great reviews, and boy those reviews were spot on. Great speakers, sounds fantastic and the design is top notch. Very easy to install and wall mount. Sound is crystal clear and loud. The Sub woofer at first was really bad, but then realize my amp had put the sub woofer level at -10 DB, once I turned that up to about -1 DB, amazing bass and cross over. Highly recommended. Good job KEF!
