5Exceeded my expectations!!!
By Alan C
Once I decided on which avr I planned to purchase, my next dilemma was choosing an appropriate speaker system. I looked at compact systems, and was left worrying that when I relocate to a bigger living space, they would be unable to adequately fill the room with enough sound. So that meant opting for a system with towers. I looked at a few different set ups, and decided on the Fluance.

All I knew of them was their reputation for producing audiophile quality speakers. The price, while not cheap, was still below my number two choice, a similar system by Klipsch. I was admittedly nervous about buying speakers I've never heard, but took a leap of faith and bought them anyway. SO GLAD I DID!!!

They arrived earlier than promised and were VERY well protected from the ravages of the shipping industry. All speakers were double boxed with multiple layers of thick Styrofoam sheeting inside for further protection. Right out of the box they sounded great. Fluance recommends a minimum 10 hour break in period to loosen up the surrounds and voice coils before pushing the speakers to any extremes. I erred on the side of caution and doubled their recommended break in time before putting them to a high volume test which they handled with ease.

I am pushing them with a Denon 3313CI avr rated at 125 watts per channel. I have the towers bi-amped using the "Front Height" channel on the Denon. They arrived with the jumper wires across the tower's inputs. I ran them like that for the first day, then decided to bi-amp them to see what kind of difference it would make. IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE! Especially with the Denon's ability to adjust the volume and graphic eq on each speaker.

I gave them a high-volume run for about an hour using a mix of jazz, rock, and metal on the multi-channel stereo setting on the amp. Once I got the LPF on the amp, and crossover on the sub properly adjusted, the results were amazing. The imaging of these speakers is nothing short of astounding! Treble that rings more clearly than a church bell across a frozen lake on a clear winter night, and mids that amply fill the space down to the lower registers. From there the sub takes over and completes the spectrum of sound. It took a little tweaking to remove the overtones (accomplished by the aforementioned LPF adjustments) which, at first were a cause for concern. After the fine tuning though, I can't say that I've heard any better speakers in this price range. The depth of accuracy in the way they produce sound has left me considering another pair of Fluance towers to use on the "Front Wide" channel of the Denon.

To sum up this review; if you are on the fence about plunking down the $ for these speakers, don't be. They are well worth the money! In this case you get more than what you pay for. A rarity in today's world.

5Fantastic Speakers!
By oshfr
Bought my Fluance speakers several weeks ago and have been enjoying them tremendously. The sound is crisp, clear, and the detail eartastic! I have been listening to DVD-Audio, DVD-Video, CD, and SACD discs and the sound has been revelatory as if I am hearing the music again for the first time. Blu-Ray movies, especially those with a 7.1 soundtrack sound spectacular as well. It helps to also have a high quality system to use with the speakers. I have a Marantz receiver and Oppo Bu-Ray which makes this all the better.
