ES1S Review and 'AS NEW' condition

Reason for purchase:
I purchased this set to accompany my ES1 floor standing tower speakers. I wanted a match set for the L/R speakers since I enjoyed them so much. I think the towers are great but you definitely want a sub to make a whole sound.
Condition:
I thought this was a good deal for about $50 off the new retail price in choosing the 'open box'. I noticed one speaker has veining on discolored silver paint on one. Obviously there was a scratch(es) and the paint was to paint over the scratches. I think with the discolored silver paint it may have been better left unpainted. It is about 2-3 inches in length and a couple branches from the main line. Probably from some one either in the factory or a return in attempts to install the speakers. The second look good initially but found that the top and bottom glossy black plates were loose. I didn't peel them off to try and reapply but hopefully I do not hear any buzzing later.
Performance:
So far I like the speakers themselves. They seem smooth in their performance and nothing too piercing or muddy to complain of. I am using this with an Onkyo 808 and in the phantom sound settings, the speakers and receiver make the sound loose it point of source and really envelop the room and engulf the movie experience for the watcher. IMPRESSED.
Final Thought:
DO NOT BUY THE OPEN BOX if physical quality matters. I like to show off my components and yes, sadly, appearances matter to me. These were poorly fixed and thinking now I may remove them to check if they were dropped at any time. last thing I want is some tearing later from a misaligned coil/magnet.
UPDATE:
Fluance had contacted me in regards to my review. They did in fact refund $15 for my shipping costs. I adjusted my review to middle of the road rating to 4 stars since they did in fact reach out and followed up on customer service. They also did offer an exchange but I didn't want to go through the time frame of being without my speakers in shipping time to Fluance and waiting for a return of another set of speakers. I do appreciate the response to my original complaint and adjusted my feedback after the $15 refund.

Excellent quality speakers

High quality good looking speakers for a low price. The only negative is that they are large and may not fit on some smaller rear speaker stands. With that being sad the price point is awesome for the quality.
